Think Pink...

Well in case you have not heard or read on Facebook, Andrew is going to have a little sister. Yes, that is right we are having a GIRL!!! We do have to have a second ultra sound (in 4 weeks) to confirm it is a girl and to check out her heart again. Because the baby was tucked down in my right hip they could not get a good look at the heart (and the girl parts). It was very obvious to us that there were not boy parts showing, so the ultra-sound tech said girl. Until we hear differently we are very excited to add a little girl to this family! I think Andrew will be a great big brother to his little sister! :)

Day 3, No Paci...

Well, we have all survived!!! Andrew is such a trooper! He has cried (or screamed) just about every time we have put him to bed since we took the pacifier away and tonight, not a peep! He still asks for it when he gets hurt, he is tired or when it is time for bed. We just keep reminding him that he is a big boy and that the paci went bye-bye. I know we will still have times he asks for it but I am so proud of my little boy. And to think his parents survived too! :)

Paci, Bye, Bye...

Well today is the big day...we took Andrew's pacifier away this morning. I have been building up for this moment for awhile now. I really wanted the paci gone by the time baby #2 comes...so Matt and I just decided today was the day!!! This morning we gathered up all of Andrew's paci's and had him throw them away in the garbage (along with our paci holder). Then we wrapped up the garbage and had him throw it away in the outside garbage. He wined about it for a minute but we kept telling him he was a big boy and did not need the paci anymore.

Matt had the morning off so we went out this morning. Andrew asked for his paci in the car a few times but we kept reminding him he was a big boy and the paci went bye-bye. We took him to Target and bought him a special stuffed animal to put in his bed with him (this was my sister's idea and it has been great), sort of in place of the paci (he picked out a stuffed Elmo of course).

Nap time has been the hardest, but he did well considering he has had his paci at bedtime since he was born. We let him cry for about 10 minutes. I went in to console him, rub his back and he went to sleep. The whole procedure took only 20 minutes.

I am pretty happy with how this has gone SO FAR...we still have bedtime to tackle and our first night without a paci, but Andrew is doing well. I think it helps that I worked myself up for the ultimate worst!!!

I will keep you updated, but enjoy these past pictures of our sweet boy when he did have a paci! :)

A little vacation...

Matt's family from Indiana has been here this week and we are enjoying every minute of it- especially Andrew. We have been to the beach, hung out at the pool, done some shopping and eaten out. It has been so much fun! We will all be sad when they leave- especially Andrew! Here are some pictures from their visit so far...

Time Out!

Since I watch my niece 2-3 days a week, and Grace & Andrew are only 3 months apart they have moments where they do not get along. I often times have to put them in time-out at the same time. I put them right next to each other so I can monitor them. I usually have to hold Andrew in time-out so he does not run away and Grace will sit there obediently.

Well, the other day I was in the kitchen cleaning up and I look over and the kids had put themselves in time-out. They did this all on their own. They were pretending...it was pretty funny. I am glad I caught it on camera!

Noticing me taking a picture! Look at the smiles on their faces.

Andrew 22 month Update!

We took Andrew to the doctor last week (to secure us a Pediatrician and to get him checked out). We are seeing a male doctor this time and Andrew loved him. After a few minutes with him he really warmed up to him (his personality is a lot like Matt's).
We will get more detailed information from our 2 year appointment in just two months, but here are a few stats:
Weight- 29.5 pounds
Height- 35.5 inches tall

Andrew is really talking well now. He puts two-three words together at a time, making sentences. I think a lot of what he says only I can understand but at least he is talking, right?
New words:
Uncle Mom- Uncle Tom
Uncle Dado- Uncle Kyle
Coptor- Helicopter
Cycle- Motorcycle
Lolpop- Lollypop

Andrew loves to run around the house saying, Go, Go, Go. He can almost jump, he knows what every car, truck, airplane, motorcycle, and boat sounds like! He loves to pretend he is talking on the phone and if you ask him who he is talking to it is always Papa. He still takes great afternoon naps (2-4 hours), and he goes right to bed at 8:00 pm.

Andrew is a sweet little boy who gives the best hugs. He loves snuggling with his Mama, and playing outside with his Dada. He loves being surrounded by his family and he knows everyone by name now. He gets his share of time-outs and a spanking every now and then, but we love him and he is such a joy to us. Enjoy the pictures of our almost 2 year old!

Andrew singing & clapping

Cheesing it up, I mean how cute is he???

Andrew is really into his bible these days, it is really sweet. He and Matt read it together every night. Andrew's favorite story is Zacchaeus.

Enjoying the morning off!

Matt usually takes Friday mornings off and we hang out as a family! A couple of weeks ago, we went to a state park and enjoyed the cool weather by taking a walk! What a good time we always have as a family and how thankful I am for Matt's days off! :)
